Building on our Foundation Capital Campaign
Kalamazoo Christian Schools have always worked toward building a foundation in student’s lives. We want to give our students a strong academic foundation in the Lord that they can use to guide them. We know we don’t achieve this without the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the lives of our families.
As we embark on our new capital campaign, we are using this image of building on our foundation, both spiritually and physically, to achieve our goals. We need your prayer and financial support to build our foundation.
What is the goal?
The Kalamazoo Christian School Board has set a goal for the Building on our Foundation Capital Campaign of $6 million over the next three years. The funds raised will go toward helping us remove the portables at 12th Street and address some of the foundational issues with our High School. This campaign will go along with our Comet Fund (money that is raised every year for Financial Aid) goal of $425,000 and our goal to increase participation in Kalamazoo Christian’s Foundation (families who leave KCSA in their future planning).
What's Involved?
I. Our Locations
12th St. Campus:
With increased growth over the past five years, causing our 12th St. campus to near capacity, we have worked with Heritage Christian Reform Church to expand our early childhood programs at their campus.
Our goal through this campaign is to add classrooms, office space, a playground, and storage space, allowing us to make Heritage CRC our Early Childhood Center, housing all of our Pre-K programs.
This will allow the space at 12th St. to move 4th grade into the main building and remove the temporary portable classrooms.
These changes will also alleviate some of the traffic issues at 12th St. during drop-off and pick-up times.
High School:
Built in 1959, our high school has served our students and community well. Now, it is in need of maintenance updates.
Phase One will address plumbing, both with domestic water (bathrooms, sinks, drinking water) and hot water systems (heating and cooling), electrical, and piping.
In Phase Two we hope to see the installation of new HVAC unit, renovations to the bathrooms, and the installation of new windows.
Phase Three will focus on exterior work including brick, soffit and fascia replacement, grading improvements, and tunnel waterproofing. In addition, we hope to see an upgrade to classrooms, flooring, and lighting.
II. Comet Fund
While we are running this campaign we don’t want to forget about the blessing our students receive from our annual Comet Fund.
The Comet Fund raises money for our Financial Aid Program. Each year KCS gives out more than $1.3 million, making it possible for many of our students to attend KCS.
III. KCSF
The Kalamazoo Christian School Foundation was established in 1993 with the goal to support the school with long-term funding, scholarships, and grants.
The only way KCSF grows is through individuals who leave KCSA in their future plans. These individuals become a part of the 1877 Society which currently has 250 members.
During this campaign, we would like to get 100 more people connected to the KCSF and provide them the resources to easily become a member of the 1877 Society.
