Preschool

Our Preschool program is designed to stimulate the social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual development and growth of each child in a loving and caring environment. Preschool teachers focus on activities that develop students’ social, fine motor, physical, and foundational academic skills.

KCS Preschool is fully licensed by the Michigan Department of Social Services. KCSA Preschools are not mandatory co-op classrooms.

Just like our K-12 program, KCSA Preschool offers a Christ-centered education. Students ages 3, 4, and 5 learn through play, songs, explorations, and interactive literacy and math activities with an emphasis on Biblical stories and seeing God’s handiwork in their daily work and play. Our Young 4’s and Young 5’s programs provide opportunities for students to gain confidence in their social and academic skills prior to entering kindergarten.

Every child has a special place in God’s plan, and our preschool students learn that God loves and cares for them. We also provide many experiences where children are offered the opportunity to express their love for God.

Children enrolled in KCSA preschools:

  • Become more aware of God’s presence in our world
  • Are challenged to love God and each other more
  • Develop a healthy self-image
  • Learn to accept and respond positively to others
  • Improve their verbal, listening and perceptual skills
  • Develop improved small and large motor skills

Our Young 5s Program is located at Heritage CRC, only a few minutes away from the 12th St. Campus. This location provides our students with a large outdoor space, a gym, and the use of the church sanctuary.

To enroll in Young 5s, your child must be 5 years old by December 31.

Our curriculum includes High Scope, Handwriting without Tears, Zoophonics, Heggerty, and Walking with God. An average day in the life of a Young 5s classroom includes morning work, whole group/circle time, small groups/centers, snack, Bible, recess, lunch, read aloud, and specials (music, art, technology, Spanish, gym, and library).

As a group, we have high school students lead us in chapel and we sometimes ride the bus to join the elementary chapels. Our Young 5s are paired with a fellow Young 5 in another class and we do activities together. We go on field trips, host special programs for Christmas and Graduation, and attend Preschool events like Basketball Buddies, Father’s Night, and our Preschool Picnic.

Our Programs

Spanish Immersion

Our Spanish Immersion Preschool classes help students develop age-appropriate Spanish phrases and encourages students to gain comfort in the immersion environment.

Nature Preschool

Nature Preschool is an outdoor alternative to our English Preschool. Children learn and experience God’s creation first-hand throughout the day.
