Preschool

Preschool at Kalamazoo Christian is designed to encourage the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual development of each child in a loving and caring environment. 

By focusing on activities that develop students’ social, fine motor, physical and foundational academic skills, KCS Preschool prepares students, ages 3-5, for Kindergarten. Preschool classes learn though play, songs, explorations, interactive literacy exercises and math activities. Biblical stories are integrated into each day at KCS Preschool, emphasizing God’s handiwork in our preschooler’s daily work and play.

Children enrolled in KCS Preschool:

Become more aware of God’s presence in our world

Are challenged to love God and eachother more

Develop a healthy self-image

Learn to accept and respond positvely to others

Improve their verbal listening and perceptual skills

Develop small and large motor skills

KCS Preschool is fully licensed by the Michigan Department of Social Services, and is not a mandatory co-op classroom.

Programs

English

English Preschool classes include play, songs, explorations, interactive literacy and math activities to provide opportunities for students to gain social and academic confidence prior to entering Kindergarten.

Spanish Immersion
Spanish Immersion Preschool classes include play, songs, explorations, interactive literacy and math activities to develop age-appropriate Spanish phrases. This program encourages students to gain comfort in the immersion environment.
Nature

Nature Preschool class is an outdoor alternative to our English Preschool. Children learn and experience God’s creation first-hand throughout the day.

Class Options & Age Information

Kalamazoo Christian Preschool offers an customization schedule. Your 3-year-old or 4-year old may be enrolled in a morning, layover and afternoon class if desired. Your Young 5 may be enrolled in our 3-day/week or our 5-day/week classes.

Children being enrolled at KCS Preschool must be potty trained.
Pre-K 3 students must be 3 years old by September 1.
Pre-K 4 students must be 4 by September 1.
Young 5s must be 5 by December 31.

A Preschool 3s class includes free play, circle time, centers, snack and outdoor play. Students may be enrolled in a morning class as well as an afternoon class if desired.

Students must be three years old by September 1 and be potty trained to be enrolled in a Preschool 3s class.

Enrollment Options:
English Class (3s ONLY): Tuesday/Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.
English Class (3s & 4s): Tuesday/Thursday from 8:10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Spanish Immersion Class: Tuesday/Thursday from 8:10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Nature Class (3s & 4s): Tuesday/Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.
Lunch Layover: Tuesday/Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Nature Class (4s ONLY): Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.
Nature Class (3s & 4s): Tuesday/Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.
Lunch Layover: Tuesday/Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Young 5's
A Young 5s class includes morning work, circle time, centers, snack, Bible, recess, lunch, read aloud and specials. Students may be enrolled in our three-days-a-week class or our five-days-a-week class.

Students must be five years old by December 31 and be potty trained to be enrolled in a Young 5s class.

Our Young 5s classes are located at Heritage CRC, which provides our students with a large outdoor space, a gym and the use of the church sanctuary.
