Vanessa Sussmann

Co-Spanish Immersion Coordinator, Academic Support Specialist

Vanessa has been teaching for 35 years. She has a BS in bilingual education, a Master’s in Spanish and a certification in The Spalding Method. By attending conferences focused on learning disabilities (LDA) and the Math Recovery National Conference, Vanessa continues to grow professionally.

Vanessa has experience teaching preschool to 6th Grade. Prior to moving to Kalamazoo, she was a third grade teacher at IST International School, a Christian school in Honduras. Afterwards, she felt it was God’s plan to have her family join the KCS family, where her children could continue to receive a Christ-centered education.

Her husband, Luis, and herself have four children. She attends Valley Family Church in Portage, MI. She loves to read, learn, math and watch old movies.

Vanessa works at Kalamazoo Christian Schools because she loves teaching about God and having the freedom to openly express her love for Him. It brings her joy to guide her students in learning how to follow Jesus’ example. She is deeply passionate about the Spanish Immersion program, ensuring that it is academically excellent and that it truly fulfills the expectations of bilingualism. She wants students to internalize the value of being bilingual and to recognize the privilege and opportunity they have to share God’s word in two languages.
