Visual & Graphic Arts

Equipping, inspiring and challenging students to develop their God-given abilities through visual art for His glory.

With opportunities to learn terminology, skills and techniques, while creating works that can be appreciated by family, friends, the Kalamazoo Christian School community and beyond.

Students gain a deeper appreciation for God’s creation, pursue excellence and mirror God’s creativity as an image bearer to others for His glory.

How it Works

In Elementary School students participate in art class two days per week. Through experimenting with different art media, learning artists’ work and techniques, creating their own art pieces and sharing their work with others, students develop a foundation for art.

In Middle School, 5th, 6th and 7th Graders each take a semester of art, two days per week. They continue to learn art terminology, techniques, famous artists and try their hand at visual and graphic art creation. Students in 8th Grade can take 2D art in the fall and 3D art in the spring. Each Middle Schooler is responsible for creating an artist statement and developing a sketch notebook through the semester.

High School students can choose from a number of courses to advance their skills including art classes such as Drawing and Ceramics, design classes such as Digital Media and Yearbook and applied arts classes such as Woodworking and Industrial Arts.

Art Showcase

Annual Art Showcase

The Kalamazoo Christian School art teachers create a spring showcase of K-12th Grade student work and invite our community to celebrate the artistic talent and creativity that God has blessed our students with.
